Role overview:
The Senior Brewer is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of beer production, ensuring quality, consistency, and innovation. This hands-on role involves managing brewing operations, recipe development, and maintaining high standards of safety and hygiene.
Key responsibilities:
- Run day-to-day brewing operations, including brewhouse, cellar, and packaging activities.
- Develop and refine beer recipes, collaborating on new and innovative products.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
- Oversee quality control, including sensory evaluation, lab work, and process adjustments.
- Coordinate production scheduling, inventory management, and raw material procurement.
- Maintain detailed records of production, fermentation, and quality checks.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards throughout the brewery.
- Operate and maintain brewery equipment, troubleshooting and resolving issues as needed.
- Represent the brewery at events and in interactions with suppliers and customers.
- Drive process improvements in efficiency, sustainability, and product quality.
Skills & qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a commercial brewing role, with leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of beer styles, brewing techniques, and industry trends.
- Experience with production planning, inventory management, and brewery management software.
- Formal brewing qualification (e.g., IBD Diploma, Cert III/IV) preferred.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a hands-on approach.
- Forklift license, RSA, and driver’s license required.
